Welcome
to Bob's Corner! Your Opinion and views column for the new millennium
and beyond. Hey, we can overuse these phrases just like the next guy.
Bob gives his opinions and views on different topics such as politics,
life and religion.
Bob was born in Akron, Ohio in 1928. He served in the US Navy from 1945
to 1949. From there he went to work at BFGoodrich while attending the
University of Akron. In 1954 he Married Mary Bussan, a chemist at BFGoodrich.
They had 6 children who in turn had 14 grand kids and 4 great grand
children, who knows where it will end. It's amazing the impact on life
that just one couple can have. As a result of Bob & Mary's Union,
24 more lives grace this earth and more will surely follow! Retiring
from BFGoodrich in 1984 Bob moved to Vinton, Ohio where he was a substance
counselor for FACTS until 1990. From 1995 to 1997 he was President of
the Vinton County Youth League. He is very passionate about life and
history yet he is quite comedic, a fact that is clear in his writing.
Many of his articles have been published in the Gallipolis Daily Tribune
and MurphyAkron is proud to host his articles on this website.
The opinions
and views of Bob's Corner do not necessarily reflect the views or opinions
of this website or webmaster and tend to draw a fine line between brilliance
and lunacy.

Nuts 'N Bolts - February, 2003
It appears to be a perfect example of the old Hitler/Goerbels propaganda
technique that: "No matter how ridiculous, if you repeat a lie often enough,
the people will begin to believe it!"

Old, But Not Forgotten - January, 2003
While most of my "stuff" still works, there have been departures-less
hair to comb, less teeth to brush and less energy to get into trouble with.
But the thing that bugs me most is: less memory to serve my aging carcass.

Duct Tape - December, 2002
Truly, this is a "golden-age"... a "golden age" of technological development
and advancement. What with electric lights, radio, television, computers, cars
that talk to us, orbiting space stations, man-on-the-moon, et al.

Your Tax Dollars At Work - October, 2002
Congress, as usual, is loading up its spending bills with "riders"
tucked away in remote corners with loads of pork; the usual giveaways,
to gain votes for the primary bill. (quid pro quo)

Hate Crimes - September, 2002
Americans, particularly Christian Americans, need to be aware that
Senator Ted Kennedy's "hate crimes" bill has been set up on the "fast
track" by Senate Majority Leader, Tom Daschle who would limit discussion
and debate on a bill which would restrict freedom of speech as it related
to homosexuality.

The Silent Pulpit - August, 2002
With much of American society mixed in moral relativism, traditional
values have given way to permissiveness, toleration, rationalization,
passivity, apathy...even acceptance.

Extortion - July, 2002
When the Mafioso does it, they call it extortion. When the Federal
Government does it, they call it compliance requirement.

Nut Hunting - June, 2002
The "nuts" continue to fall from the trees of our "anything
goes" culture. Just when you thought you had heard it all, here
is a new one for ya.

Christian Unity - January, 2002
Clearly, it was never the intention of our nation's founding fathers
that the Federal Courts should legislate the laws of our land. That
was to be a function delegated to the Congress and reserved to the States
as specified in the 10th amendment.

Listen-Up-America - November, 2001
Along with many other Americans, I am deeply disturbed by the incidence
of mass murder which took place at the Columbine public high school
in Littleton Colorado where thirteen kids, a teacher and two assailants
died violent, senseless, untimely deaths.

Yogi Berra, now 76, has only an eighth-grade education, yet is famous
for his off the cuff, totally delightful one-liners, such as... "It

Health Stuff - August, 2001
It never ceases to amaze me, the amount of attractively packaged
health type stuff that confronts one in general merchandise stores (K-Mart,
Wal-Mart, other Marts), grocery stores (Kroger, Food land, Johnson's),
pharmacy stores (Fruth, CVS, Holzer), where aisle after aisle, are stacked
with elixirs, pads, ointments, salves, pills, capsules, creams, and
a variety of other gooey and odoriferous substances. Phooey!

When I first viewed the picture below, I couldn't help but feel a
certain sympathetic empathy for the poor pitiful creature staring out
at me with baleful eyes, scraggly beard andmouthed appeal to the
generosity of those who might be of more favorable circumstances.

Our 33rd president, Harry S. Truman, said it very well: "If
men and nations would but live by the precepts of the ancient prophets
and the teachings of the Sermon on the Mount, problems which now seem
so difficult would soon disappear ...

We can make a difference - February, 1999
It sometimes seems as though I don't live in the country in which
I was born. Gone are civility and respect, virtue and integrity. Gone
are commitment, honor, and dignity. Gone are self-discipline and control.
Truth and love have fallen into disuse and abuse.
